New Gadget: The iHome Clock Radio
Posted on | January 22, 2006 |
Though I am not happy to be 25 — besides the cheaper insurance and ability to rent a car without penalty — the birthday monies from said occasion have provided for a new gadget. Now, I can, if I so choose, wake up to tunes from my iPod or just listen to my iPod via the the system. I haven’t used it much yet, but the sound seems to be very good. There aren’t, however, many iPod controls on the radio. Of course, the manufacturers have so thoughtfully included in the box an offer where I can get a remote for only $19.99. Grrr.

Happy Birfday.
Does it also charge the iPod while docked? .. this looks like a cool device. How much and where did you get it?

Thanks, Web.
It does charge the iPod while it’s docked. The device also includes the inserts for docking all other variations of iPod (mini, nano, shuffle, etc). I got it on sale at Target for $85, but it’s available at many place, I believe. Also, here’s more info.

On a scale of A+ to F what would you give the sound quality, also would you consider yourself someone whom can tell quality sound when you hear it?

No, I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself someone whom can tell quality sound. However, when I first docked my iPod and started listening to music through the system, I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s sounds really good for being a clock radio.” I would say B+/A- ? Online reviewers usually say about the same thing — impressive sound for the size of the unit and the price point.

I should get Doug one of those….
In other news, did you know that your site is crazy like mine and sometimes in IE (don’t ask) it shoves all of your text down to the bottom of the page? I figured out that the reason mine did it was because I randomly would throw on too wide of a picture. SO it’s probably your New Year’s pictures that are doing this. Just wanted to let you know.

Re: Lindsey — Hmmm… I just checked it in IE and it looked fine — although I am viewing it at a high resolution. Thanks for the heads up.
Re: web — So I heard. I was actually hoping he’d get traded to the Nuggets.
Also, cut Lindsey some slack; she’s my resident IE site tester, also known as the only reason I’m letting her IE usage slide.

I detest IE, but I was using my sis-in-law’s computer…and we haven’t gotten them convinced to switch (nor do we support them when they do have problems w/ their computer)….so I used the only thing I had available

hey I just got one in black. better be cool i’m excited to try it. I heard it didn’t have remote capabilities…

If it’s the same model, it should have remote capabilities — you just have to buy the remote separately.

Wow, interesting the remote didn’t come with it. I have one, and I bought it off apple.com for $99 and it came with a remote. I just checked the apple.com website to check the contents and its funny how it doesnt mention the remote on there either.
I love the remote and waking up to my ipod, do it every morning!
