Why the Original Iron Chef is Better than Iron Chef America

The original Iron Chef is better because it has theme ingredients like sea cucumber, sea urchin, eel, and freakin’ swallow’s nest.
I’m sorry, but cheese and catfish cannot measure up to these.

Very true, though I do enjoy listening to Alton Brown.

I think they both have their goods & bads….but the best part about the American one is that for the most part they look like foods I wouldn’t mind either being served or sitting at a table with someone eating it….

I guess I like the fact that I would never even think about eating most of the dishes on the original Iron Chef. There are always foods used that aren’t part of our food culture — in other words, I would never eat sparrow’s nest sorbet, but it’s fun to see what goes into it.
Plus I love the english dubbing.

I always thought the eel sorbet would be fun to try just to say that I’ve had eel sorbet.
On the other hand, with the American version you get to see the guy from “Only the Strong” and how poorly his career has gone.
