Resolution Results

Posted on | January 4, 2005 |

Since it is that time of year, I thought I’d revisit 2004’s New Year resolutions and maybe chalk up a few resolutions for 2005.

  • (Warning: I am so cliche, but I don’t care.) Lose those last few pounds.
  • Write my loved ones, especially those born prior to The Great Depression, actual snail mail letters.
  • Do more web development experimentation.
  • Learn a new programming language. (Suggestions? Maybe Perl/TK)
  • Research and write paper on pitfalls of national healthcare system.
  • Save money. Period.
  • Contribute to open source project.
  • Finally finish making my site web and accessibility standards compliant.

Honestly? I didn’t do very well. I didn’t write letters. I didn’t research and write a paper on the pitfalls of national healthcare system. I didn’t contribute to an open source project unless you count bug fix submissions to Moodle. I didn’t even start making my site web and accessibility standards compliant. I didn’t do web development experimentation or learn a new programming language unless you consider PHP5. Okay, I’m going to count it as a half resolution success.

I did manage to lose weight and save money so the year wasn’t a total bust.

I’m not sure about 2005’s resolutions. Maybe I should give myself two years to finish 2004’s.

I tried this year to make my goals a little softer and more obtainable like … “showering on average of 4 out of 5 days”

Maybe you should finish that potholder?

Like the header, but your fancy Photoshoppery will be no match. I’d rub that horseshoe all week .. your gonna need the luck.

Dreams

To live in a bike friendlier world. To create the greatest collection of fabulous shoes ever assembled. To see a viable third party in US politics. To get local Rio team riders to acknowledge existence on road.
